forecasts” – public lecture organized by Innowise Group and Vitebsk State
University took place in Vitebsk.

department took place at Vitebsk State University on 12th September.
The
speaker Kyrill Alyoshin from Canada - Sun Microsystems veteran, the present
Chief R&D Architect in IDEXX
Laboratories - presented the lecture “Big Data: trends and forecasts” and
answered the questions of the audience.
At
the beginning Kyrill gave a broad overview of existing solutions in the Big
Data space. He
focused primarily on Hadoop,
HBase, Storm, VoltDB, identifying benefits of each of the product, and talked
briefly about just released Google DataFlow. A good chunk of time was dedicated
to Q&A.
Most of the audience were specialists
working in Vitebsk IT companies, as well as individuals involved in commercial
software development. Students and teachers of the university who attended the
lecture liked the lecture, and agreed that the provided analysis of the current
development products market was useful and the information was nicely organized.
The audience communicated with the speaker
and asked smart and tricky questions. The most interesting questions were
rewarded with souvenirs – book from Kyrill and T-shirts with the event related
